When I read the book “The Giving Tree” I thought of my Grandma Carolyn.  The book is about a tree that will do anything and give anything it can to the boy he loves.  My Grandma is like that for me.  I don’t remember when I was a baby, but there are a lot of pictures of me and Grandma.  She made me two beautiful purple and white quilts and I still have them.

She has taken me a lot of places, like Tweetsie Railroad, Disney World, to see the Nutcracker Ballet and she paid for my parents and me to go on a Disney Cruise.  Sometimes when I spend the night at her house, we go out to eat and to the Mall.  When we are at her house (she lives in Winston-Salem), we do a lot of things.  We walk the dogs, Ginger and Toby, work in the garden, watch movies and play games.  She taught me how to play Boggle, Yahtzee and Sequence.  She loves Harry Potter as much as I do.

Grandma is a good artist and teaches me how to paint with watercolors.  She has taught me how to do shadows and shading and color blending and how to paint a perfect rainbow.  I love rainbows!  We built a house for my Webkinz but they all wouldn’t fit.  It is a cool house with four rooms and an attic.  Each room is decorated differently.

Every year she gives me a Christmas Tree that has twenty-five presents on it and I open one each day.  On my birthday, which is December 29th, she takes me on a shopping spree and I can buy anything I want!  When we celebrate Christmas with her, she has a special stocking for me and also for the dogs.  Grandma Carolyn is so generous to me and gives me wonderful gifts.  I am pretty lucky to have her and she says she’s lucky to have me!  I’m her only grandchild and she treasures me.  I treasure her, too.

Every year she goes on a big trip somewhere.  When she went to China, she brought me back a silk umbrella and Chinese money.  When she went to Russia, she brought me a big beaded hat and a hand puppet.  She went to Egypt last year and brought me back a real Egyptian outfit called a galabeya and a headpiece.

She shows me that she loves me in so many ways.  I know she would do anything for me.

If you don’t know how to annoy your mother then read this. Let me tell you, I really know how to annoy my mother! First, you need to know that she is funny and fair most of the time… BUT she can get REALLY annoyed when:

First – when I lie (I don’t lie very much though)

Second- when I zone out watching TV (I do watch a little TOO much TV)

Third- leaving shoes all over the house (I do have shoes in every room)

Fourth- when I don’t answer when she is talking to me. (I am really bad at that)

Fifth- when I leave dirty clothes on the floor.

Sixth- when I lose mechanical pencils and she has to buy me more.

Seventh- when I forget to fill my dog’s water bowl. (I forget A LOT)

Eighth- when I get make up or pen marks on my bed spread (I have to do it with a towel under it now)

Ninth- when I stay up TOO late on a school night (I read Harry Potter all night)

Tenth- when I DON’T talk enough to adults when they are talking to me (I am very shy when it comes to talking to adults)

Those are the ten things that really annoy my mother!

I love all kinds of music and some of the old rock and roll bands from 1960 to 1999 . So I am going to talk about them. First up is the Beatles. They are an English rock band and were formed in Liverpool, England in 1960. The original band had 5 members: Stu Sutcliff-Bass Pete Best-drums and George Harrison, Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Sutcliff left the band in 1961 and Best was replaced by Ringo Starr (my favorite). The band broke up in 1970 and they all had individual musical careers.
John was shot and killed in 1980 and George died of cancer in 2001. I gave my mom the Beatles rock band and she started screaming! My favorite songs by them are Octopus’s Garden, Hello Goodbye, Help, and Here Comes the Sun and lots more!
Next up is Twisted Sister. They are a Heavy Medal Band formed in New York City in 1972. They also called themselves shock and glam rock. The lead singer is Dee Snider. They wore weird and wild make up and costumes. All their songs are about parent and child conflicts and criticisms of the educational systems. The funniest and biggest hits were We’re Not Gonna Take It and I Wanna Rock videos.
Here comes KISS! They were formed in New York City in 1973. They were also known for there make up and costumes. Everyone loved the wild firework displays at concerts. The lead singers are Paul Stanley, the” Starchild” and Gene Simmons “The Demon” They were very popular in Japan. Their fans are called the KISS Army. My favorite songs are Crazy Crazy Nights,( I used to sing to that a lot when I was little) and I Wanna Rock and Roll All Night.
Van Halen formed in Pasadena, California in 1974.  Their name comes from the two brother, Alex and Eddie Van Halen.  Alex is the drummer. Eddie is considered one of the world’s best guitarists! Lead singer David Lee Roth known for his outfits, gymnastics and flamboyance. There were lots of fighting in the band, David quit and they got a new lead singer, Sammy Hagar. Then David came back to the band and they had a reunion tour in 2007 and 2008. My favorite song and video which is also everyone’s favorite song Jump.
Now give it up for Dead or Alive! Just like the Beatles, they were formed in Liverpool, England in 1980. The lead singer is Pete Burns known for his powerful voice and strange appearance. They were a British New Wave Band, called Gothic post punk. The biggest hit was in 1985”You Spin Me Round”( Like a Record).
Now last but not least, one of the newer singer’s Alecia Moore! Her first big hit was in the 1980’s.  She is from Pennsylvania and she goes by P!NK. My parents went to see her live. I can only listen to the clean versions of her songs. My favorite songs are  So What, Who Knew, and Sober. Rock on!

I was waiting for my dessert at the booth. I could already taste it. The sweet, tangy dessert of the day. When the waiter came to our booth, he was holding a fresh, scrumptious looking cake. When he put it in front of me, I took a bit of delicious, rich, sugary cake, and bent over and within two seconds I was able to finish the entire cake! It was so luscious, I even licked the plate. Cheesecake is now my all time fav. Dessert!

Fifth Grade Art 026I chose dance because I love to do baton, ballet, jazz, and arobatics. Dancing is a fun sport. It’s active, and you can sing along to the songs and dance to the beat. I go to dance group called Ladybugs. We perform at retirement homes and we are in the parades. Dancing is my life!

The engine is getting softer and softer and then finally you can’t hear it anymore. The breaks stop with a jolt. You can hear the ding that tells you when to take off your seatbelt. Everyone is rushing and calling their friends.  Bags, falling down, and hitting you on the head. Then two seconds later you can hear the doors opening with one ram and people rushing out and giving people who are still packing throbbing pain. The pilot comes to the door and bows and thanks them for flying. You can hear the sound of the people stomping down the stairs, pretty much hurting their feet. Still tired of all that feet stomping, finally you can hear the people clamorous, loudly and running to their friends and family to welcome them. Then I get in the car and drive home from a long plane ride and from a distance I hear a plane flying away farther, and farther…

On vacation we went somewhere special. When I got out of the car, I could smell the salty air and felt the warm deep sand through my sandals. I jump into the water and look at the birds swooping around and around in a circle. Then I saw a big wave coming and before you know it I am diving into 3 waves. Finally, I dragged my sandy body out of the water and collected shells from the side of the water. In the mid afternoon, I built a sandcastle and took 1 last soak in the water and headed in to the car. And that was my trip to the beach.

Hi.  My name is Brooke.  I am an outside droplet of water.  I started in a cloud.  I was swaying and feeling the breeze.  I became rain and fell into the ocean.  Now I am in the ocean.  I just stayed in the ocean and relaxed.  Then, somehow (and it is strange because the ocean is salty and a lake is not), I ended up in a lake.

A dog came down to the lake to get a drink of water. The next thing I knew, I was sliding down his throat. Later, the dog went… and then wow, I was back on the ground and gravity pulled me into the soil.

When it rained and flooded the ground, I floated into a lake. Jassiah came and got water from the lack to water her lilies. And now, I’m helping a lily grow.

If I were picking out a dog, I would definitely pick a Chihuahua over a Jack Russell.  Chihuahuas are very funny.  They run around the house in circles and love to lick.  They love to chew toys (and everything else) and can be very playful. Another thing is that they are way more cute than Jack Russells (in my opinion).

They don’t bark as loud , well, it depends on what kind of Chihuahua you get.  Jack Russells dig and like to tear up things.  Almost all of the Chihuahuas hold one of their paws up and look adorable.  They jump in your lap and follow you around everywhere.  They can sleep with you as long as you don’t roll over and squash them. They are so little you can put them in a purse and take them everywhere.  They are dainty dogs.  Teacup Chihuahuas can fit in your hand.

      Get a Chihuahua!
